Selene

The moon goddess Selene is the guardian of the bright moon. Every night she drives her white chariot, pulled by 2 white cows, across the night sky. Together with her siblings Eos, the goddess of dawn, and Helios, the sun god, she brings about the change of day and night.
The chemical element selenium was also named after her. This trace element is life-sustaining for humans in small doses, but deadly in large doses. As so often in life, one must find the golden mean.
