Not only the scent reminds you of the balmy summer days on the Mediterranean, but also the fine structure of the wood are a blessing. Every layer that is sanded off brings out a different kind of appearance.
The olive tree had a great importance for people in the past. The myth tells about a time when the city, later named „Athens”, was still insignificant. According to the myth, Poseidon, Greek god of the sea, and Athena fought over the patronage of the city and held a contest over it: whoever gave the city the more useful gift would have won. Poseidon provided a fountain, but it only gave salty water. Athena planted an olive tree and made sure that the people cherished it and enjoyed its gifts (wood, oil and olives). Thus she became the patron goddess of the city, which has borne her name ever since. Until today an olive tree grows in this place as a symbol of hope, peace, prosperity and fertility.
