The evergreen creeping juniper, with its long and branched branches, is popularly known as the guardian of the threshold between life and death. In its branches the souls of the deceased find shelter until they perhaps reincarnate one day and return to earthly life. For this reason, it is also often called The Guardian.
Accordingly, it was also a kind of Soul-Tree or „Child-Tree” and the old understanding of rebirth and transmigration of souls shines through it. But not only human souls were believed to be found there, but also fairies, dwarves and nature spirits. It exudes an intense vital force and has a psychic cleansing effect.
