The Old Swiss Stone Pine

This figure is about 12 cm wide and made out of the bark of an old Stone Pine tree. In these 12 cm you can see about 50 annual rings. If you imagine the whole circumference of the tree, you can guess how old it must have been.

Swiss Stone Pine trees protect the forest below from avalanches or falling rocks. It is a true master of adapting to a harsh environment. With patience and perseverance, it skillfully develops its own survival strategies. Its secret of living in the mountains is conveyed to us by its strong wood. But not only! The furrowed and combative face of this survivalist has a soft and gentle core. This core exudes an essential oil named pinosylvin. A scent that flows directly into our soul.
